"Sure." He looked up at her, smiling gently. "I thought maybe so. Your trip did sound a little bit too...interesting to be true."
I chose this book because this is considered YA dystopian canon in a lot of circles. This should be right up my ally and has many great reviews, which you can check out on Goodreads HERE. However I tried to read this and something just did not connect.  I ended up very disappointed after reading only 33% of the book, and did not finish. May people love this author and this series so I'm at a loss as to why I couldn't get on board. Have you read this or any other Scott Westerfeld, let me know in the comments.

  1. I've seen some mixed reviews of this one so have passed on it since it's outside of my usual reading anyway. Too bad it didn't work for you. The excerpt does sound interesting!

  2. I read this book and really enjoyed the concept. The series did fizzle out for me towards the end though. Sorry you didn't like it Tori.

  3. I never read any of his books but have heard many people rave about them. Don't feel bad just move on. Life's too short and there are too many books out there to waste on one that doesn't grab you.

  5. I agree with you! I ended up reading and liking this, but the first half was so. Unbearably. Slow.

  6. I think I read this book about two years ago and absolutely LOVED it :o I thought it was the best thing I'd ever read and raved about it to all my friends. I love the sequel, Pretties too.. But then I tried to read specials and it was so horrifically BORING that I couldn't go on. Recently, I tried to rekindle my love for the series recently and picked up Uglies again, but I couldn't connect, just like you. Try as I might, the series I once loved had no meaning to me anymore... weird!!
Anyway... What I actually came down to the comments to say is that I love your blog :D I think you're doing a really awesome job and everything is soooo pretty :3 So I think I'm gonna follow you every way I can :3
