I don't like to think that there are books out there not worth reading, but sadly they exist. Everyone has a right to express their opinions on different topics, but these authors have made offensive, worthless and harmful books. I read reviews and articles on these books but have not and never will read them myself.
1. Modelland by Tyra Banks
Oh did you know Tyra tried her hand at a young adult dystopian novel? And it involves a Mary Sue stuck on a island with models. The result makes little sense, and should have never been published. Here's Tyra writing the first draft.
2.Making Gay Okay: How Rationalizing Homosexual Behavior Is Changing Everything by
Robert R. Reilly
Unfortunately this is not a rational book about how people can and should love any person they want. Gay is already more than OK. This is trash, it promotes intolerance and if I ever see a copy I will quickly destroy it.
3. Effects of Unfairly Unfavorable Book Reviews on Independent Authors by James Lowrance
So apparently negative reviews, are not helpful. Dishonest reviews that give no feedback, the author can use, are infinitely better though.
4. Fifty Shades of Gray by E. L. James
This is Twilight fan fiction that involves a stalker boyfriend, abusive sexual acts, and a woman who has no value outside of what a man assigns. I did see the movie, but I will not waste any time or energy ever reading this book.
5. I Wish My Kids Had Cancer: A Family Surviving the Autism Epidemic by Michael Alan
Not only is this book offensive, irrational and clearly misguided, I don't think this author is mature enough to have any book published. You do not wish your kids had cancer, no matter how provocative this title is, this is horrible.
6. Revealing Eden by Victorua Foyt
In a post-apocalyptic,
totalitarian, underground world where class and beauty are defined by
resistance to an overheated environment, Eden's coloring brands her as a
member of the lowest class, a weak and ugly Pearl. If only she can mate
with a dark-skinned Coal from the ruling class, she'll be safe.
So this author uses horrible descriptions of race in this novel. It oversimplifies racial issues, has a song about Coals (the ruling black race) raping Pearls (the white underclass). I feel like this was a idea that should have been killed pretty early, but unfortunately we have a horrible novel you shouldn't touch.
7. Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard
If you have the time the documentary Going Clear, explains how harmful, shameful, and manipulative the cult of Scientology is. This is similar to the bible for the cult of scientology, and was written by a deranged science fiction author whose goal was to never pay taxes and benefit from his created religion.
8. How People Who Don't Know Their Dead attach themselves to unsuspecting bystanders and what to do about it by Gary Leon Hill
So the next time you feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up, this is a guide that will not tell you why. This is a hilariously titled book, that will tell you how to get your ghost who thinks its, alive off your back.
9. If You Want Closure in Your Relationship, Start with Your Legs: A Guide to Understanding Men by
Big Boom
This is crap. I guarantee reading this book will not help you understand men. You should not consider closing your legs in a relationship as a powerful way to get anything out of it.
10. To Train Up a Child by Micheal and Debi Pearl
This Christian guide to child abuse, it has incited parents to commit child abuse. The Authors encourage the use of a quarter-inch thick length of plumbing pipe used to hit badly behaving kids; the Pearls call it the “Rod of Reproof". This book has been cited in a number of child abuse cases, and should be destroyed and never published again.
